We checked in and met up with Andre who toured us through the Shwedagon Pagoda. It is being refurbished - so as my luck would have it, it's covered in scaffolding. It's still quite amazing to see - one giant gold structure, approximately 60 tons of gold. Including the jewelry of people who built it & left their treasures to be part of the structure. The whole thing is surrounded by other smaller temples and pagodas.
