A Wandering Exploration

After a lovely walk and some breakfast at the Fullerton Hotel, along the river, Laura and I walked down through the financial center and found a metal sculpture of a tree made of people. A lot of the day was exploring via the MRT (read: subway) and found our way to the Chinese and Japanese Gardens. We wandered through the zodiac statues, reading about all of the different symbols and what they mean. It's the year of the Goat/Sheep/Ram this year - my year, so it was decorated for the new year. The Seven Story Pagoda was under renovation, so another photo opp, ruined by scaffolding - Cathy, totally feel ya on this one!

We crossed some bridges, took plenty of photos and sweat so much that we both nearly passed out before we got some water. My nose is practically fuchsia, even though I used a ton of sun screen, damn sweat!

We took a detour stop on the MRT based on where my finger landed when pointing randomly at the map - nothing noteworthy... then took a walk through Chinatown, bought some souvenirs and such, took a look at the decor for the holiday. So many shops full of fun things, just like the NY Chinatown, but much more street vendor food - that we didn't eat.

We spent most of the afternoon relaxing at Boat Quay and in the AC at the apartment, and slowly getting ready for Shawn's arrival. He arrived and was exhausted, so our big plans for Saturday night out in Singapore were thwarted. Those will get shifted to tomorrow night. Tonight, Christoff joined us and we had a meal and some drinks in Boat Quay. I glanced up and caught a couple shots of the light show off of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The evening was spent looking over the river and appreciating the breeze. Shawn's first night was very similar to mine.

More adventures tomorrow...
